It's so very sad to know we've lost the amazingly rad as Dane Searls. Dane passed away today & will forever be roasting trails & dreaming of us all during his last & final sleep. Dane will forever live on with in the hearts & minds of all those who were blessed to hang out & roast trails with him. Dane is & will remain a LEGEND, always pushing the limits of what can be achieved at the trails, one of the styliest slayers of trails to have ever lived & blue grooved trannys this earth has ever seen. From the 1st time i meet Dane @ Hazo & during all the rad as goodtimes we all had roasting the trails all around Sydney, Dane was always one of the humblest, down to earth (when not roasting cos he'd be float'in) & most passionate of loyal diggers I've ever had the honor of riding & digging with. Such a legend in the down under trails scene will NEVER be forgotten. All of us diggers here @ The Gorge send our condolences out to Dane's family & friends during these sad times.

Closed means closed folks. It's diggin' season only @ The Gorge. Trust me when trails surrounded you as ya dig, you just can't but think about roastin' some. Go ride Lismore if your to lazy to DIG weekend warriors! Wanaka Jump Park is open, the 4 main lines ie small lines have been altered some, a new drain has been put in, the role in is now steeper. The Big line/moto ain't been touched since i left Wanaka 8 months ago, it's been run dry & hammered in places nothing some love won't fix ie a sweep, rake & patch up an it's ON! (hint hint Lismore users & expect more QT riders in ya area)........2 Dig? or Ride? DIG MAN, COME ON it's a no brain'er, if ya don't dig & keep shit dialed, ya just ain't thinking right!)

This is sooo RAD! Make sure ya go big screen for this sweet footy of 3 legit, sound as kiwi lads George & Louis Bolter & Jayden Leeming tearing it up at the Gorge one fine day over summer, they were all so psyched on the place they roasted right thru into the darkness, if i had the chance i know i would if i ate more carrots! Redbull sure don't muck around when it comes to a sick edit! Big ups to Redbull for all their help at the Gorge were we all can fly, who said anything about wings man THE WHEEL is all ya need (& shovels, rakes, wheel barrow's etc etc i think you get it)

Well us lads on the tools @ The Gorge are dam psyched on this vid & you should be too, it's a labour of love & untold infinite hours on the tools & dam she's sure Gorge'ous it's, even more motivation 4 us to continue loading wheel barrow's, continue slappin' tranny's & always day dreaming about the spring to come along with the feeling trails give us who know what up. So we'll just keep digging, even if it hurts we STILL dig, feel the pain & work thru it (an those who dig know that you always hurt more when it's cold!). So thanks to those who come an help out many hands make light work.

Right now the Gorge is looking nicely dialed, there's some gravity deifying clay sweating away, more dialing to come & more tarps 2 throw on, it's never ending & the trails are never ever finished (for the record trails can never be FINISHED? creativity & evolution are nocturnal & infinite, so why would you limit yourself?). A few things have changed & a few things have grown over the past 7 weeks & we've still got plenty to do but because were such awesome dirt moving/shoveling/slappin' beasts we've almost run outta dirt (let's just dig out the middles....some more)

Well winters still not here, the sun is the boss & it's blastin us daily with it's warmth, which means the ground ain't frozen solid........so you kno what that means right? Exactly we can dig still till our hearts are content & were getting shit stacked up & playin' with that beautiful clay that's at the Gorge!

oh yeah by the way if ya ain't member of the Queenstown MTB Club get on it man, if you love & ride all the amazing spots they've build from the ground up, you need to give back & the best way to do that is by signing up & becoming a member which is all in support of the local QT riding scene wether you love trails or just plain wanna go fast down hill or peddle up a hill? Your choose = your fun. NUFF SAID, get involved & sign up, show your support!

It's almost a daily operation getting down to the Gorge with Nath, Lowell & Martyn (BIKE SMART kicks ass, ya dig) an were getting it done! What a team & were would we be with out our redbull hit aye Lowell? Oh to have wings right now. So dailing as much as we can b4 we tarp up is awesome, come spring it means less work & the fact of the matter is that we'll be roastin' it up sooner rather than later yeeeeoooow! Ya can't beat getting a head start on spring's heavy work load at ya trails any were on earth! But those who have trails kno this, right?

Big shout out to those who do come an help us out, you kno who you are (even tho there ain't many helpers & plenty of ya like to drive by with comments like "are they finished yet?" or "when do they open up again?''. Are they finished yet haha "what the trails, finished, they'll never be finished man only constant evolutiuon man!) If ya just plain stuck at work an ya can't help dig, well there's always the weekends to invest in ya summer fun, don't be shy & come help us out if were diggin', we won't bite, we'll only heckling ya some in good taste tho haha so bring ya sense of humour.

well it's less than a month till the middle of winter & you kno what that means yup the days get longer, an spring bekons. Mother nature sure has been hella nasty to NZ lately with gnarly earthquake's, tornado's & flooding the list goes on but were's winter, who really cares the longer the dreaded cold stays away the better & with it comes the likely hood of more chances of mid winter roast'in! Mother nature hasn't unleashed her full winter fury yet down here, but no doubt she will & it'll suck, old injuries will ache, digg'in will get done & we might even dream a roast'in, i kno i do! So what's the best way to start the day mm mmm i kno checking DELUXE out 'cos Mark & his team always serve up the dirty goods......TRAILS they feel dam rad to ride, ya hang'in with ya mates having a goodtime, why else would we dig? So it's spring time up north an trails are getting lovingly beatin back into shape for another season a slaying, it's getting to the time of the year here in New Zealand, when the northern hemisphere's trails keep us motivated, which helps with surviving winter, rough. Here in QT it's mid autumn, sunny'ish & the southerly wind is fucking cold. The end of another season has been looming over us all for the past month, dreadfully that time has come, the sound of tryes wizzing, buzzing, purring & whining up lips has become a distant shadow of a echo.

The Gorge is tooo wet, chained up, the sun's rays are gone along with the leaves of summer, shortly the tarps will go on & only more good memories will remain to keep company the trails thru hibernation, yup it's all over for another season. Isn't it so amazing how good the rides are so late in the season, the whole time while floating thru the air you think "i love this feeling" or "this could be the last run i have" as darkness falls, this is the last of the last.

We'll be forming a "get thru winter with no roasting" support group, no it's already formed ha ha! We all still remember our last roll's thru, what ever line we chose. What a feeling & what a awesome season it's been, so a massive thanks goes out to the whole Gorge crew & to all the rad riders who came thru over summer, you kno who you are, we'll be seeing ya again sometime thru the next slayin season.

So whether your heading into a new trails season or it's over like it is down here at the Gorge, stay focused, maintain & dig n ride trails(some how).............inspirational food for thought!

On a local front we had a dam sweet as session at the Gorge on Friday just gone, believe it or not were still roast'in d Gorge, this time last year they were under tarps due to shitty wether & shut down for the season so we'vebeen treating every session we have latley like it's our last. All it'll take is one dam shitty weather front to shut 'em down for the season. Fingers crossed that winters cold wet frozen grip does not come for a bit yet. Thanks UNIT......on a far deeper than deep farm full a sheep & clay nestled deep with in the deep southern main land (south island) of NZ this recently went down, yup someone gave Kelly the mic, whoops. Kiwi shredder/beast/digger Paul "Lang(a banga)lands of Cambridge claimed another win, 2nd year in a row, Langas kills it hands down one of NZ's most consistent trail slayers for sure, dig on man! Motueka's Jake Prebble roasted in at 2nd (Go see Brad an build trails, russle a crew), Anthony Napolitan 3rd (Anthony was seen hanging out at the "Deep South Ice Cream" truck plenty) and Jed Mildon 4th.

With 2 lines to play on, the line full of hips was definitely sesh'd harder hard both days, while the 2nd line a run of big straight hits & a big ol dirt quarter pipe to finish on was not so seshed, big big floaters. The day before the farm jam was a beauty also & practice day, so with the only chore of erecting a massive Redbull tent for the Frew's, it left us with nothing better to do than chill & ride some. We had a sweet time, we didn't light any fires & camped out with everyone who'd turn't up early, so thanks to all who made it happen, more lines next year? Who knows, with all the space down on that farm i hope so!

I was givin some bad news today from a buddy over the tas ditch that the dam bulldozers have flattened yet another rad set trails in Sydney, R.I.P. KOOKS TRAILS! So so dam lame to be honest as these boys have to start over after all their hard work (some of us know this feeling). No doubt you boys have already found or have in mind a new well hidden spot! Don't tell kno one, underground is best! So after all the goodtimes, roast'in, dig sessions, beers, BBQ's & BMX nudity...KOOKS is gone! A bunch of the KOOKS locals came over to the Stony Hills Jam back in early 2010, they hung around a few days then left b4 the jam on their gypsy roady mission around NZ & to get back to thier woods.

I've been looking forward to roast'in ya woods some in June this year, but not in bare feet. I'll help dig @ ya new spot instead. These pic's are all pretty much from the last ever trail slaying session d Kooks locals will ever have in their woods! As ya can see the Gorge kicks ass! You'd have be stupid to disagree right or just gay maybe "This place has gottah be one of the raddest sets a public trails on earth man"( i quote Clint Miller of Colony), yes that's right PUBLIC trails but that don't mean you can leave ya trails etiquette up ya ass, do bring it along or you will get heckled beyond repair! Like all good trails the Gorge is a team effort like every other set a trails on Earth should be!

The Gorge is located on the real land way the fuck down under up in the mountain's "The Southern Alps" yup in NZ for those dumb asses out there way outta touch like me! "The Land of the Long Sweet As Trails" or "the land of the long white cloud aka Aotearoa! Redbull have had their hand in with the Gorge & have helped out loads with the Gorge over the years by throwing down $$$ 4 the jams & loads of that over stimulating, intoxicating fluid that Lowell Diggity loves to consume, even i nock one back when needed the next day (after too many pints at Atlas)

so as my rant goes on your the biggest sucker for sitting in front of ya screen reading this all, so unless it's pissing down out side or to dark to ride trails only then can you justify reading this rant, on a random tip as i am manic man after all. Head over to DELUXE who also jumped on board for this years Gorge Jam (i will do an update soon, sorry) & threw down some rad prizes. So you know when it comes to thanks the biggest thanks go out to Nath (aka Satan) of PHATLINES for his completely obsessively dedicated behaviour when it comes to taking care of the Gorge, then there is the loyal local diggity diggers, Lowell, Jarod (Dingo) Chris & Cam (i'm the new boy on the block so i'm almost local haha) any diggers i forgot you kno who you are, big ups to ya all! Let's not forget the Queenstown MTB Club, big up's go out to LB & his crew also. Arrrhhhh dam it this is like a farewell to trail slaying season as winter kicks in! I'm having major withdrawal issues cos i ain't been at the Gorge for over 2 weeks, dam it i miss you all! Roast 'em up some for my lamo ass, i'm still in Wanaka an nothing here has got anything on Gorge....yet?

I almost forgot the fact that Redbull did a sweet day'n'night shoot at the Gorge with the Bolter twins & Jayden Leeming, that's what this post is about after all, i sure was kicking myself hard for being way to busy to check any of the action out! And from what i have seen you boys got some bangers for sure, catch ya next time boys. The BMX Games just went down over the weekend in OZ! JC & the Backbone boys sure built a sweet selection a trannys for them to slay, i just love the RED MARS dirt they've got in Canberra yeeeeeeeooow! Mean while in NZ's deep dirty south the 2011 Farm Jam/UNIT Farm Jam went down an dam what a rad time it was stunts & tomfoolery on MOTO's, BMX's, MTB's plus plenty a southern mullets, girls & sweet sunny weather made for one hell of a goodtime! The heckling was a blast hhahahhaa! Big ups to the FREWLAGINS Chris, Dan & Brett Frew for all there hard work down on the farm! Not to mention there would be no farm jam with out all you dirt loving BIKERS out there, thanks for the stunt fest boys, RESPECT!

An a even bigger badder BIG UPS & GET WELL goes out to Allan after front flipping to his face on the big line & to Phil after his front end blew apart sending Phil to his face/head also. just a reminder to all users of Lismore Public Jump Park there is a whole bunch of jumps/features under repair/dialing so please respect "the diggers" that put the time & effort in an do all this hard work free of charge, yes that's right we do it purely for the love off it. The reward for all this had work yup as you guessed it, is getting to ride/roast away the days of summer! So please do not remove any safety tape and/or tarps/carpet as this would pose to be a serious safety hazard an you might eat shit/slam in the process, OUCH!

KEEP OFF THE 1/4 PIPE thanks! Once it's in place after the bowl/new kicker you can ride it as she needs some propping & the scaffolding/platform behind it, paitence.

A few saftey issues/hazards have been addressed/raised with the QLDC (local council) so right now the process of geting the out of date signage at Lismore amended to cover things such as:

DO NOT CLIMB ON THE JUMPS(or do skids up lips man)AS THIS DAMAGES THE SURFACE

DO NOT CROSS SAFETY BARRIERS or WALK THRU LINES WHILE THEY ARE IN USE

CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES, yup kids just love climbing all over the jumps even when where riding them, safe, so what ever you read sprayed on to anything in lismore, just think about the message in those words!
